Preparing for Fall
While we love our trees for the shade they give our pools in the summer, it’s this time of year that trees become a mixed blessing. With fall in progress, the leaves are falling and blowing around your backyard. Its important to stay vigilant in keeping leaves and debris out of your pool.
Excess leaves clog up baskets, making your pump work harder than it should and can age your equipment prematurely.
In addition, leaves in the pool drop chlorine levels and can make your water balance off.
It’s a good idea to empty baskets in between service visits. Particularly if you notice that your tree is dropping leaves fast and furiously.
If you have rainfall that brings the water level above normal levels, you may want to drain a few inches so that skimmer function isn’t affected. If the water level is too high, it’s possible that skimmers won’t filter any leaves, even if your running the pump.
Lastly, leaves settled on the bottom of the pool can stain. While the leaves will be scooped up your weekly visit, if you have a tree that dumps too many at any given time, you might consider getting them off the bottom prior to waiting.
Pumpkin spice, jack-o-lanterns and cooler weather! Looking forward to fall!!!
